On Saturday, January 20th, 2024, our office partnered with Senator Robert Martwick and Bridget Degnen in hosting our “Unpack the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline” event. Despite a last-second location change, we had a great turnout (in person and online) of neighbors interested in and passionate about accessible mental health resources! The 988 lifeline offers individuals dealing with mental health needs “a place to call” (24/7) while mobile crisis offers “someone to come.” 988 is new as of July 2022 and when running full throttle, we will all have a place to call, somebody to come, and a place to go in a crisis that’s not jail or the hospital.
