CHICAGO – Celebrating the kick-off of April’s Earth Month, state Rep. Lindsey LaPointe (D-Chicago) will host “EnviroFest” in collaboration with state Sen. Rob Martwick (D-Chicago) and her office’s Environmental Advisory Council. The environmental fair highlights planet-friendly organizations and businesses from across the community on Saturday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Portage Park Fieldhouse in Chicago (4100 N Long Ave).
“I’m excited to join forces with Senator Martwick’s office and local organizations and businesses to explore how we can work together toward a greener future for Chicago. This event offers residents the opportunity to engage with a variety of topics — from how to make your home more eco-friendly and learning about electric vehicle rebates, to everyday actions residents can take to protect our planet,” said LaPointe. “With hands-on activities for all ages, ‘EnviroFest’ truly inspires community-wide action. I’m looking forward to learning alongside my Northwest Side neighbors as we discover practical, sustainable steps we can take right in our backyards.”
Participating organizations include Chicago Botanic Garden, Citizens Utility Board, IIllinois Environmental Council, Bike Lane Uprising and others.
Dedicated to environmentalism, LaPointe earned a ‘100%’ rating from the Illinois Environmental Council last fall. LaPointe’s Environmental Advisory Council is another vital pillar of the community’s environmental strategy, composed of neighbors and local professionals who share a passion for environmental causes. The council meets monthly and advocates for solutions to hyperlocal challenges, shares critical resources, and addresses barriers to information regarding environmental policy.
EnviroFest is free to the public and will feature giveaways and light refreshments. To RSVP for this event, please contact Info@RepLaPointe.com or 773-647-1174.
